Will Ringland
Accesibility Lead
Epic
Will is an accomplished expert in healthcare IT accessibility with a career spanning more than two decades. He has been instrumental in creating the accessibility program at Epic from the very start of the program over a decade ago. As Epic’s continued accessibility lead and driven by his passion for inclusivity, he has championed accessible design, development, and testing principles to ensure that patients, clinicians, and administrators can excel in their work. He seeks to raise the bar for technical accessibility in all healthcare software so that patients and clinicians alike have unfettered access to cutting-edge healthcare tools.
As a disabled man himself with deep interest in policy and public speaking, he bridges the gap between advocacy, complex technical concepts, ethics, regulation, and the human experience of being a disabled person in the world. Not only has his work through Epic improved access to healthcare for over 190 million active MyChart users, he also worked locally as the chair of Madison’s Disability Rights Committee for six years.
He lives in Madison, Wisconsin with his incredible wife, two floppy cats, multiple families of barn owls, and far too many flying squirrels all on a small apple orchard they have been restoring for the last 5 years.
He very occasionally writes about accessibility at www.Bruta11y.com.
